POSTER INFORMATION

Competition for Best Poster:

All early career scientists (post-graduates and researchers who received their highest degree in 2008 or later) and students attending the LAC 2014 Conference and presenting posters and/or oral papers are eligible to be recognized for outstanding poster awards. Awards will be presented to the best posters during the Conference.

A distinguished review committee will review and identify outstanding posters each day given by students and early career scientists. The presentations of the highest quality posters will be recognized with a WCRP certificate.

Contest general guidelines:

  • The presenter should be the first/principal author of poster and be registered as a student or early career scientist ( if in doubt, check your registration ).

  • Each presenter will only be considered once in the entire week's contest.

  • Student presenters must be in a degree program at the time of poster submission.

  • The participants must attend personally the LAC conference and present the poster.

  • The poster must be formatted according to the Guidelines.

  • The presentation by the Early Career Scientists must be original and based on recent research results that are either published or submitted for publication and soon will be published in the open and peer reviewed literature.
     

Poster Creation Guidelines

Each presenter is provided with a usable space of 230cm-high by 98cm-wide.
  • The presentation must cover the material as cited in the corresponding submitted abstract.

  • Place the title of your paper and the author’s names prominently at the top of the poster board to allow viewers to identify your presentation.

  • Highlight the author’s names, e-mails, and address information in case the viewer is interested in contacting you for more information.

  • Prepare all diagrams or charts neatly and legibly in a size sufficient to be read at a distance of 2 meters. Key points should be in large type. Paragraph and figure caption text should be AT LEAST 24-point font and headers AT LEAST-36 point font.

Organize the paper on the board so it is clear, orderly and self-explanatory.
  • Avoid hand drawn materials. Do not post the pages of your paper. Use color, graphics, charts and photos. Make sure it has a logical flow.

  • Include the background of your research followed by results and conclusions. A successful poster presentation depends on how well you convey information to an interested audience.


Poster Board Guidelines:

At least one of each poster’s authors must be a registered participant and present the conference. Authors are required to stand by their poster during the daily poster session in order to answer questions.

Each poster is identified with a unique code composed by an indicator of the session and a number:

Posters belonging to the session HH, WE and AE can be put up in their assigned board space form Monday 17th March starting from 8:00AM. Poster presentation will be from Tuesday 18th March at poster session schedule. This posters will stay up two days. Authors are asked to remove their posters on Wednesday 19th March no later than 19:00 PM.
Posters belonging to the session CU and CMPP can be put up in their assigned board space form Thursday 20th March starting from 9:00AM. This posters will stay up two days. Authors are asked to remove their posters on Friday 21st March no later than 19:00 PM.
