Grupos de investigación

Dinámica de la variabilidad atmosférica sobre Sudamérica – DIVAR –

El objetivo general del grupo DIVAR es aumentar el conocimiento sobre la variabilidad y cambio del clima en Sudamérica para desarrollar nuevas herramientas de predicción del clima regional y de sus impactos, abarcando las escalas semanales, mensuales, anuales y decadales.

En particular, el grupo se concentra en investigar las fuentes de variabilidad climática en escala intraestacionales, estacionales, interanuales y multi-decadales a través de los principales modos de variabilidad climática de gran escala asociados (ej. ENSO, SAM; IOD, MJO, PDO, etc.).

Los estudios utilizan tanto datos de reanálisis como salidas de modelos tipo CMIP, o predicciones en escalas subestacionales y más largas. El grupo además se concentra en desarrollar herramientas innovadoras de monitoreo y pronóstico climático para que a futuro sean operadas por el Servicio Meteorológico Nacional. Por último, el grupo lleva adelante estrategias de co-producción de información meteorológica y climática junto a investigadores de ciencias sociales y actores sectoriales del ámbito agropecuario y de emergencia.

El grupo DIVAR (Dinámica de la Variabilidad atmosférica sobre Sudamérica) realiza sus investigaciones y desarrollos en el CIMA y UMI-IFAECI.
